Description
An unnamed and enigmatic figure from the Bible, the Queen of Sheba has been the subject of numerous accounts and interpretations. What we know for sure is that she “came to test (King) Solomon to ask him hard questions.” (1 Kings 10:10)
“The Queen of Sheba: Seeking Wisdom” depicts the young queen looking towards the light, symbolic of the wisdom for which Solomon was renowned. The white cloth protects the precious gifts she bears, the lions represent her own royalty, and the balance in the mirror refers to Solomon’s role as the wisest of judges.
